First Anniversary of the Canadian AdChoices Program

ADCHOICES PROGRAM TAKES HOLD WITH MAJOR BRANDS AND CONSUMERS

Since the program went live one year ago today, the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC) is pleased to report that 57 major brands and media companies are have registered for the Canadian AdChoices program. The program gives consumers more information and choice about the advertising they see online. It was launched in September 2013 by Canada’s largest advertising and marketing associations that make up the DAAC.

The core feature of the program is the "AdChoices" icon (see below) which tells consumers that participating companies adhere to an accepted set of principles that provide consumers with transparency and control over interest-based ads. The icon links to information about interest-based advertising and allows consumers to opt out from this type of advertising if they choose.

Consumer awareness and education about the program continues to be actively promoted by an ongoing digital advertising campaign with 435 million ad impressions having been presented to Canadians since the program launched.

To date close to half a million Canadians have visited youradchoices.ca.

Members of the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada include:
