2018 Compliance Report

Ad Standards has released the AdChoices Accountability Program: 2018 Compliance Report.

Through Ad Standards’ independent lens, their newest report highlights how companies participating in the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC)’s AdChoices program for online interest-based advertising have implemented the program’s Principles throughout 2018.

In this fourth annual report, Ad Standards commends new participants for being quick and eager to implement the required features on their websites. For organizations that have been part of the program year over year, their website compliance remains strong.

Mobile compliance is progressing, though the majority of parties have yet to implement fully compliant solutions. At the time of writing this report, Ad Standards had reviewed and reported to the majority of First Party AdChoices participants who own mobile applications engaged in IBA activity, and communicated their findings to these participants regarding mobile compliance issues. These participants have expressed willingness to implement all the required changes and Ad Standards is working with them to find solutions that are both compliant and user-friendly.

Once again, when comparing participating companies to those that are not in the program, Ad Standards’ analysis found that DAAC participants continue to do more to provide transparency and control for IBA.
